Prime Minister Saad Hariri met Saturday noon at the center House, with the Iranian vice president for parliamentary affairs Mohammad Reza Mir Taj al-din, in the presence of former Minister Basem al-Sabeh, Hariri’s office manager Nader Hariri and consultant Mohammad shateh.
Hariri and Taj al-Din discussed the latest regional developments and the dual relations between Lebanon and Iran.
The Iranian senior official said his government fully supports the "unity and independence" of Lebanon, expressing his country’s relief to the consensual atmosphere which has been reining in the Lebanese State.
Taj al-din considered all the Lebanese political parties have worked hard to reach this stage of stability.
“In God’s will, this remarkable cohesion existing between the people, the government and the resistance can create a bright and glorious future for Lebanon,” he said.
Taj al-Din added the Iranian delegation’s visit to Lebanon was to attend the opening of the three-day Arab-International Forum to support the resistance held at the UNESCO Palace in Beirut.
He added, “We have visited the Lebanese President Michel Sleiman, and conveyed President Mahmud Ahmadinejad appreciation for his efforts to strengthen the atmosphere of consensus in Lebanon.”
Taj al-din and the accompanying delegation also visited House Speaker Nabih Berry in Ein al-Tineh.
The senior Iranian official assured the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is fixed and permanent, “we support calm, security and stability in the region and we support all the resistance movements as well,” he maintained.
Taj al-Din also said that Iran appreciates all movements resisting Israel and other enemies of the Arab and Islamic states.
Meanwhile, Hariri met earlier with the head of the military intelligence, Brigadier General Edmond Fadel. The two discussed the latest security developments in the country.
